"The Inspired Homeschool" by Jennifer Pepito - A Book Review
Captivating, Inspiring, Motivating, Down-to-Earth...
Sitting at my kitchen table, I began to read Jennifer Pepito's newest book, "The Inspired Homeschool". There are very few texts, besides the "Bible", that have brought me to tears within the first few pages. This book does that!
As a homeschool mom, it can be stressful selecting how you will educate your children because we are both blessed and cursed with so many options nowadays. Do I go with a canned curriculum package? Do I do online classes? If I chose one curriculum style over another will my children miss something vital? Where do I even start? Analysis-paralysis is a real thing!
"The Inspired Homeschool" gives examples of well-known historical figures, such as Laura Ingalls Wilder, C.S. Lewis and Joan of Arc, and dives into what their educational setup looked like. We know that these individuals had incredible lives; leaving an impact for future generations to look upon. Many of the educations were not traditional, per-say and that is just the point! Homeschooling can allow us the margin for our children to curate their passions and dive into the path that God has created just for them.
Jennifer Pepito brings an emphasis on exploring beauty in everyday life and allowing literature to curate and lead students' interests. Which as a mom of boys, I didn't think this style was in my grasp but after reading this book, I now see the practical applications that I too can bring into our homeschool days.
I highly recommend this book for anyone with children, not just homeschooling families, because the truth is, our children are always learning and as parents, we can help them to love that experience and encourage them to seek the path God has created uniquely for them.
